The Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has come together to do something amazing for once.
Recently veteran actor Ernest Asuzu was spotted in very embarrassing circumstances, begging in the streets of Lagos.
Asuzu suffered a stroke and has been ill for a while, draining all his money.
It led to a former big star known all over the screen becoming a beggar.
After his story went viral, the AGN was accused of neglecting him, so they’re now trying to make amends.
According to its President, a committee has been set up to take care of Ernest Asuzu.
The committee would be responsible for raising funds and administering the funds to ensure the actor gets the care he needs.
“Ernest Asuzu is one of us. I have always identified with him since he developed stroke until there was a break in communication between them, but thank God that we have reconnected.”Emeka Rollas, the AGN President told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“We are following up on our promises and have swung into action by setting up a special fundraising committee for him through which our members can assist him.”
Rollas added that they’ve already made arrangements to move Asuzu to a bigger hospital in Abuja to receive the best of care.
