Mr Sematimba reportedly scored 13 points out of 20 in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examination (UACE). He was one of 101,868 candidates who obtained a Principal pass in the 2019 UACE.

His individual grades include – credit six in General Paper, a D in Christian Religious Education (CRE), a D in Literature in English, a B in Art and credit four in Computer Studies.

Speaking after his win, Mr Sematimba said he decided to take the exams because his political opponents continued to denigrate him over not having his certificate.

“People use my papers as an excuse to take me to court. I won the case but it cost me shillings 350 million, so I decided to go back and get them the papers that they understand,” Sematimba said.
