On Friday, March 27th, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced a lockdown of Ghana’s two largest cities, Accra and Kumasi as well as Tema to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.
The lockdown was to start today, Monday, March 30th.

As is common with Ghanaians, the purpose of the lockdown might have already been defeated as thousands of people fled the city of Accra over the weekend to go back to their hometowns.
If the purpose of the lockdown was to keep people inside the city so they don’t spread the virus, running back home with a possible infection defeats that purpose.
One of the families fleeing Accra headed for New Edubiase was involved in an accident on Sunday.
Photos of their completely mangled car has hit the web showing how serious the accident was.
It’s not immediately known if there were any fatalities from the crash.
