One name that has come to be almost synonymous with controversy as far as Ghanaian showbiz is concerned is the name Shatta Wale. Brutally annoying, habitually controversial, and persistently vocal, it is without doubt that the S.M Boss has never been one to shy away from controversy.
Yet, another side of the self-acclaimed “dancehall king” that many may not have noticed yet, is his generosity and concern for his fans and vulnerable people in general. It is this side of the man Shatta Wale that has endeared him to many hearts during these trying times.
In his bid to ensure that ensure that the needy are also comfortable during this lockdown, the S.M Boss took to the streets and various households in Accra to donate food and sanitary items worth millions of Cedis.
In a move aimed at uplifting the spirits of his fans as a result of the fear and despair caused by the COVID 19 pandemic, Shatta Wale organized a show dubbed “faith concert” to entertain and put smiles on people’s faces.
In a latest development, in fulfillment of a promise he made earlier, the musician has donated food and other items to some inmates at an undisclosed prison facility.
As the country continues to come to terms with the devastating consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shatta Wale remains part of the few privileged Ghanaians who have demonstrated genuine concern and empathy for those who are underprivileged.
While some so-called “men of God” find it prudent to chase their already suffering members for Tithes and various offerings, Shatta Wale has demonstrated by deeds the true meaning of “the Lord’s work”.
It is therefore not surprising that despite his excesses, Shatta Wale still remains the most loved and celebrated musician in Ghana. It is not even in doubt that he will always be considered “a man of the people”.
