Yesterday’s turn out of events on Metro Tv’s Good Evening Ghana was disappointing to many. People who had stayed awake, hoping to hear Senior Journalist, Paul Adom Otchere’s rebuttal on accusations levelled against him by his junior colleague Manasseh Azure, were left disappointed after what was supposed to be a stringent word-for-word rebuttal by the embattled journalist, turned out to be nothing but a “joke”.
Paul Adom Otchere, a man who is no stranger to controversy, was in the news last week for all the wrong reasons. His supposed editorial about a news release made by the daughter of former President Rawlings, and MP for Korley Klottey, Dr Zanetor Rawlings infuriated many viewers of the show and social media users who could not understand the reason behind the journalist’s emotional and strongly-worded attack on the MP’s personality.
After the fall-out from that editorial, Manasseh Azure Awuni, a renowned Investigative Journalist accused Paul Adom Otchere of lying against him while he was still an employee of Joy Fm. According to Manasseh, Paul accused him of requesting for a bribe of $100,000 from CEO of Jospong Group of companies, Mr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, in order for him (Manasseh) to kill a story which involved the Jospong group. Followers of this story were fired up for Paul’s rebuttal as he had served notice on Facebook a few days ago.
However, this anticipation for Paul’s rebuttal left many viewers disappointed when the senior journalist could not produce a single documentary evidence to back his claims against his junior colleague. Paul, however, insisted that Manasseh asked for a bribe, revealing that his junior colleague requested for a closed-door meeting with Mr Siaw Agyepong where he (Manasseh) made those demands.

In a sharp response to his senior’s fresh claims, Manasseh Azure refuted the claims that he requested for a closed-door meeting. According to him, the meeting took place with him, Mr Robert Coleman and Paul Adom Otchere himself. Manasseh also mentioned the former editor of Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh as being present at the premises at that time.
