New Regulations In Accra Bans Entering A Public Place or Public Transport Vehicle Without A Face Mask

As part of measures to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Greater Accra Regional Security Council has passed new regulations to restrict its potential spread in the general populace.

With the lifting of the 3-week lockdown, life has generally gone back to normal in most parts of Accra, even though a ban still remains on public gatherings and an overwhelming majority of infections recorded in Ghana are in the region.

If things continue as if life is back to normal, we could see a second outbreak.

To curb that, the new regulations were passed at an emergency meeting held on the night of Wednesday, April 22nd.

Henceforth, residents of the Greater Accra Region have to wear face masks whenever they go out in public.

Security officials would enforce the rule and anyone without a face mask would not be allowed into public places.
