Yesterday evening at 9:30 pm, President Akuffo Addo addressed the Nation in what was his 9th update on measures taken by his government against the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to the President, Ghana has so far conducted 160, 501 tests, out of which our confirmed case count stands at 4,700 with 494 recoveries and 22 deaths. The president explained that all the 22 persons who died had chronic underlying health conditions.
President Akuffo Addo indicated that The World Health Organization (WHO) has reached out to Ghana to share its sample pooling experience with other African countries so that they can adopt Ghana’s strategy and also ramp up their testing capabilities.
The President extended the ban on public and social gatherings (including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities and other related events) till the end of the month.
Government has so far distributed 4,240,719 gloves, 2,576,333 nose masks, 16,823 goggles, 60,132 litres of hand sanitizers, 50,770 headcovers, 41,992 gowns, 41,000 medical scrubs, and 30,783 N95 Face masks to health facilities across the country.

The President also encouraged all to consume oranges, kontomire, millet, cashew nuts, crabs, plantain, okro, dawadawa, brown rice and mushrooms to help boost the immune system. He further encouraged regular exercises, personal hygiene and improved lifestyle habits.
