Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, who is also the 2020 Presidential aspirant on the ticket of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) issued a very strong warning to President Akuffo Addo and his government concerning the continued closure of churches.
His warning came a few days to the President’s last televised address to the Nation concerning measures put in place by the government to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to the controversial Pastor, God had spoken to him that He will visit severe consequences on Ghana’s leaders, should they fail to open the churches that very Sunday or the next one.
Kyiri Abosom also expressed his surprise at the reason why Hospitals and other public offices remained open while Churches were still closed. He expressed surprise that President Akuffo Addo, a known Christian could preside over what he characterized as ‘unchristian’ circumstance.
It’s been almost a week since Kyiri Abosom’s deadline elapsed and we are yet to see any calamities being visited upon President Akuffo Addo and his government by God. Neither have we heard of any calamities befalling any of the country’s leaders. Perhaps God has changed His mind, or maybe Kyiri Abosom did not hear clearly when God spoke.
Since Time immemorial, many Ghanaian Pastors have utilized the power of the ‘unkwown’ to cower people into submission whenever they have found it convenient to do so.
Interestingly, they mostly had their way in pre-modern times until the activities and indiscretion of most of these so-called Pastors started becoming public. This has to a large extent demystified the ‘cult’ surrounding the Pastorate, leading many to be liberated from the shackles of religious oppression, thanks largely to the proliferation of Social Media.
In the case of such enlightenment, it is not surprising that someone like Kyiri Abosom will employ such infantile threats on no less a person than a whole President of a Republic like ours and a learned lawyer for that matter.
It is not surprising because this is what the likes of Kyiri abosom are noted for; robbing unenlightened persons under the guise of religion, threatening them with carnage and mayhem from God when they do not comply, and booking their express tickets to ‘hell’ when they appear enlightened.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom and all who think like him should bear in mind that it may tarry but a time will definitely come when they and their tricks which are given legitimacy under the cover of religion, will no longer be relevant.
Above all such crooks who call themselves “men of God” should be mindful of what the Bible says in Revelation 22:12, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”.
