Gary Al-Smith, a renowned sports journalist with Accra based Joy Fm, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group Limited has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Center where he was undergoing treatment after suffering from COVID-19.

Gary Al-Smith confirmed a few days back that he had tested positive for the virus, following an earlier statement from his employers that 5 of their staff have tested positive for the virus.

The journalist has provided constant updates as to how his treatment was going. He also courted a bit of controversy when he made some revelations which he described as lapses in Ghana’s case management system.

However, Joy Fm has reported the recovery of the renowned sports journalist, saying he has been discharged and is resting at home. The announcement, however, did not give details about the other 4 staff who were also said to have tested positive.
