A distressed nurse working at the Soma CHPS compound in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district in the Northern Region has raised a petition to the Directorate of the NHIA to investigate the district manager, Mahama Sakara, for “sexual assault” and “attempted rape”.

The Petitioner, Miss Doreen Smith alleged that Mr Sankara had come to the CHPS compound at about 9:00 am July 8 under the guise of “monitoring” but turned around to make inappropriate advances at her.
According to the distressed Doreen, she really struggled to ward off Mr Sankara’s efforts at forcible penetration, claiming that even though she was able to avoid penile penetration, she still suffered finger penetration in the process.
In an audiotape accompanying the petition, two voices, one male and the other female, are heard in dialogue with a male voice demanding a sexual favour and the female being adamant.
