President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo once again proved his spineless and failed leadership credentials after announcing that restrictions placed on public transport vehicles to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic have now been lifted.
Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday night delivered his latest ‘fellow Geneans’ speech during which he announced new easing on restrictions put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

One of the new policies he announced is that the restrictions placed on public transports to allow them operate with social distancing protocols have now been lifted and they can load at full capacity.
“In consultation with the Ministries of Transport and Aviation and the leadership of transport operators, Government has taken the decision to lift the restrictions in the transport sector, and allow for full capacity in our domestic airplanes, taxis, trotros and buses,” Akufo-Addo said.
This practically means that Ghanaians would now resume being packed into these vehicles even as the number of COVID-19 cases keep rising without stopping.

Once again, Nana Akufo-Addo has failed to step in as a serious leader and take practical decisions to help the citizenry he is sworn to protect.
It wasn’t two weeks ago that transport fares were raised to help transport operators recoup revenue they were losing due to the restrictions placed on them. Yet Ghanaians have to pay these new fares and still have to be packed into the cars as well?
What other word can describe this decision other than spineless? It is essentially a double victory for transport operators with the general public as the losers.
Add this to the ongoing voter registration exercise, reopening of senior high schools and the rampant recklessness of appointees like Hawa Koomson and Nana Akufo-Addo seems to have completely lost the plot.
At this moment, he is a truly failed leader.
