Black Stars legend Michael Essien has finally transitioned into coaching after hanging up his boots following a very long career.
Essien has joined the coaching staff of Danish team FC Nordsdjaelland.
The club announced Essien’s appointment with a post on their social media handles this morning.
“Welcome Essien. The former Black Star and pro player, Michael Essien, is joining our coaching staff this season. He’s gonna assist the coaches and participate in the training sessions alongside the players,” the Denmark based club wrote on Twitter.
Essien also responded with his own tweet.

“I am delighted to have joined @fcnordsjaelland coaching staff as part of my development towards my full coaching licence. I will also be assisting the players on and off the pitch as part of my role,”
Congratulations to the former Black Stars legend as he embarks on this new phase of his career.
It would be great to see someone like him on the Black Stars bench one day.
