57-Year-Old Who Went Viral for Writing BECE Says She’ll Continue to SHS and Become A Nurse

A 57-old lady who became a social media sensation for writing her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Elizabeth Yamoah, says she’s going to continue her education to the SHS level.

Yamoah, who attended the Odoben Presby Basic “A” JHS, was in jubilant mood after writing her last paper on Friday, but said she totally plans to continue her education to the next level.

Since the BECE started earlier this week, a photo of Yamoah, a mother of four, hit the web and went viral.

Her strength and determination to be pursuing her education at that age presented a great story which Ghanaians gravitated to.

She truly became a viral sensation.

After celebrating her graduation, Yamoah, popularly known as Aunty Lizzie, spoke to the media about how her educational journey has been like.

“When I made up my mind to go to school people in my community mocked me. Some even said that I should leave education for the young ones but I was determined to learn how to read and write and that helped me through my education,” Elizabeth told Citi News.

She added that she plans to continue to SHS and fulfil her dream of becoming a nurse.
