The father of Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey, Jacob Partey, has revealed that he had to sell almost everything he owned to raise enough money to send his son to Spain.
Jacob told Hot Fm in Accra that when his son signed for Atletico Madrid in 2011, he had to sell almost everything he had to make the boy travel.
Partey came from a poor background in Krobo Odumase but was talented enough to be snapped up by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2011. To get enough money for him to travel, his family had to sell properties to raise the money for him.
”It wasn’t easy for Partey to leave Ghana to Spain. I had to sell my lands and many properties to help my son,” Jacob Partey said on the show ‘Focal Sports’.
Partey then moved on to become one of the hottest midfielders in world football playing for Atletico and has now moved to Arsenal for £45m.
Aside his hefty transfer fee, Partey now earns roughly £260,000 a week at Arsenal, a whopping Ghc 1.9m EVERY, SINGLE, WEEK!
It’s safe to say his family won’t be selling any more properties but would rather but gaining more and more!
