The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari mourns the passing of former President JJ Rawlings.
He says the entire continent would miss him.
His tribute was release by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Parts of it reads;
“President Muhammadu Buhari sends heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ghana over the passing of the country’s former President, Jerry Rawlings, 73, affirming that the entire African continent will sorely miss the sterling qualities of the great leader.“
He believes that all that the late former president stood for would not be forgotten and would forever be held in our minds and everyday happenings.
“President Buhari believes the passion, discipline, and moral strength that the former Ghanaian leader employed to reposition his country over many years continue to reverberate across the continent and beyond.”
He wishes Ghanaians the strength to overcome this loss, praying for a good rest for Rawlings.
“The President prays that the almighty God will grant the Ghanaian leader eternal rest, and comfort all his loved ones.”
Former President JJ Rawlings passed on yesterday, Thursday 12th November at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a short illness.
May his soul find eternal rest.
