One of the saddest facts about Ghana is that we have people living in extreme poverty, in conditions which can break the human spirit, all at the same time we have others swimming in so much wealth they don’t know what to do with that money.

The disparity is so bad it breaks the heart when you see photos such as the ones we’re about to show you.

The photos are from a school in the Volta Region known as Dodi Mempeasem D/A School. They show students in a sorry state, studying on the floor of the school’s classrooms.

Worse, one can see some sort of rubble lying in the classroom and the children still have to study in it that way because they have no other options.

In the same country, we have Members of Parliament being handed exorbitant ex-gratia, politicians looting the state coffers to their heart’s content and so many rich folks whose kids would never know poverty till the 90th generation.

We are able to always find money to take care of all these people but for the least of us, those who have zero, our politicians can never take care of them.

It’s a massive disgrace to Ghana that future leaders are left studying in such filth. If you don’t grow the future, you’re doomed to be stuck in the past.

The government of Ghana must not be allowed to rest until they take action to solve the problems of this school and every other school in similar conditions, and we know there are thousands of them out there.
