Ghanaians are truly fed up! The stench of corruption emanating from the Presidency is just too much and people are done being polite.
One thing about the internet is that it never forgets. In the wake of corruption scandals plaguing the government, an old tweet of President Akufo-Addo, then candidate Akufo-Addo, pledging to fight corruption has gone viral.
In the tweet, the President claimed that he would not appoint any greedy or corrupt appointees to chop Ghana’s money.
“I, as your President, will lead by example, and will not allow corrupt, greedy and self-serving politicians in my Government. #Ghana,”
However, his government has faced several scandals since coming into power, with the most recent one being how his communications director, Eugene Arhin, has magically managed to acquire billions of cedis worth of properties and cars in just 4 years.
That is after the issues of senior minister Osafo Maafo, who failed to answer questions from the auditor general and instead got him sacked, and the Agyapa deal which led to the sacking of Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu for investigating too much.
Remarkably, Akufo-Addo always keeps quiet whilst all these corruption scandals blow up. It’s clear he doesn’t give a hoot about corruption!
After his old tweet popped up, social media users jumped on it to blast the President for running a corrupt govenrment.
