Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has denied trending news suggesting that he has a wife known as Ramatu Bawumia.
According to Bawumia, the news is false, he’s never met any lady known as Ramatu Bawumia and he’s definitely not married to one.
The minority in Parliament recently caused a commotion during the 2021 State of the Nation Address as they started chanting that ‘they want Ramatu [Bawumia]’
The chant came after Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, when trying to mention the name of Bawumia’s wife, mistakenly said Ramatu instead of Samira.
Ramatu has been widely believed as a 1st wife of Bawumia cast aside for the younger and better educated Samira but the Veep denies that.
According to a statement from his office, there is no Ramatu and the entire thing is a figment of people’s imagination.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Vice-President has only one wife, his dear Samira Bawumia and they have been married for 17 years even though his religion permits him to marry up to four wives,” the statement emphatically stated.
Ramatu has therefore become a ghost all of a sudden!
