Film makers in Ghana are tired of begging the government to open the cinemas so they could work and have resulted to threats and commands.

Cinemas were closed like churches and schools since the COVID pandemic began but all have been reopened except the cinemas leaving people to wonder when it will be opened.

According to some affected persons, letters have been written to the government to open the cinemas and force operators to adhere to strict COVID protocols but no response has been heard yet

Actress Yvonne Nelson has started a trend with the hashtag #openourcinemas to send message to the government and various stakeholder to open the cinemas.

She, like other movie makers are going broke because they can’t premiere their movies to large audience and make profit.

Yvonne Nelson took to social media to start a campaign against the government.
