“They didn’t build factory for the youth to work but prison to arrest youth for stealing food to survive?” was one of the many reactions from Ghanaians after news of the church of Pentecost building a prison went viral.
Some angry Ghanaians descended on the church of Pentecost for ‘wasting’ resources to build a prison instead of building a factory or hospital to employ the youth.
Photos and videos of the commissioning of the ultra modern prison was shared on social media drawing in diverse reactions from the public. Minister of Interior was also present at the commissioning.
The facility aims at giving inmates some benefits in terms of sleeping area and basic amenities and also ease congested prisons in the country.
Ghanaians are however saying it was a misplaced priority because the country needs ultra modern hospitals and big factories not prisons to incarcerate the youth.
