“Ban Government Officials From Traveling Abroad For Medical Care’ – MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa To Nana Addo

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, has made a call to President Nana Addo to ban government officials from traveling abroad for medical care.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said this action will leave lawmakers with no choice but to fix the damning challenges in the health care system in the country.

His statement comes after MP Sam George broke the news of the death of a 12-year-old boy who died due to lack bed in the hospital.

The deceased boy had been referred from the Battor Catholic Hospital to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, but was refused admission citing lack of beds.

Sam George revealed that another attempt was made to transfer the deceased to 37 military hospital but that was also thwarted due to inability to procure an ambulance.

Member of Parliament for the area Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described the incident as unfortunate and said if only our lawmakers could go through the same fate, they will make our health system a priority.

“I make a plea for a complete ban of government officials from seeking medical care abroad. Let us fix our broken health system to protect Ghanaian lives. This must end. What happened to all the uncompleted hospitals across the country? he was quoted to have said.
