The news of the unfortunate passing of one of Nigeria’s finest talents Sound Sultan devastated many across the world on 11th July 2021.
The announcement of his death was made on Sunday morning by his family in a statement that read:

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi aka Sound sultan. He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings. We, his family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with the tragic loss.”

From all the tributes coming through, it is clear Sound Sultan was well-loved. For a notoriously nonchalant President like Buhari to make a statement about his demise speaks to how much he was appreciated by his country.
Nigerian celebrities have also celebrated his life colourfully on social media.

Legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba however, has taken it a notch further and offered to see to it that the family of the late Olanrewaju Fasasi will be “safe and good”.
He posted: “Couldn’t bring myself to do this but what can we do. Rest well. Till we meet again my dear friend and brother. Still so unreal.
“Will never stop celebrating u. I promise u your fam will be safe and good. #GRATEFUL for u and the blessings that u represented in my life.”
