The student fraternity of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been thrown into a state of shock and mourning following the death of one of the final year students.
A level 400 student of KNUST identified as Frederick Asamoah Frimpong has committed suicide by hanging.

The incident reportedly happened at Adoato in Bantama, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
In an interview on Pure FM, an uncle of the deceased, Osei Kwadwo revealed that he came home last week after lecturers embarked on strike.
He noted they found Frederick hanging on the ceiling of his room and his mother went to see him.

According to him, they knocked on his door, called his phone but there was no response until they got a carpenter to break into the room, only to found him dead.
‘We knocked on his door for several minutes but he didn’t respond. We called on his phone but he was not picking so we called a carpenter to break his door and we saw him hanging’.
The reason why the student committed suicide is currently not known. However, the body has reportedly been conveyed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
