Venerable FR. Balthazar Obeng Larbi Drops First Public Reaction After Kissing Students – Here’s What He Said

The venerable father Balthazar Obeng Larbi has reacted for the first time following a video of him kissing students going viral.

The Anglican Bishop has apologised for his actions, explaining that his kisses were to ‘honour’ the students involved.

He has released a statement addressing the controversy his actions caused. Per his statement, he feels he did nothing wrong other than kissing students in the midst of a pandemic.

According to the pastor, his kiss was to honour the girls who performed extraordinarily well with a ‘human touch.’

Somehow I don’t think people would appreciate his ‘apology’ too much.

He said: “My attention has been drawn to a video that has been flashed on a number of social media and television screens, and on radio and other media stations.

“This unfortunate incident happened during a Church Service in appreciation of the Level 300 students, who will be going for their Macro Teaching (Off-Campus Teaching Practice) when college resumes the next academic year, by the College’s Chaplaincy Board. The three students seen in the video performed extraordinarily well and were therefore called to be appreciated by the Chaplain.”

He continued: “An attempt to add a human touch resulted in the scene in the video. Accordingly, I am sincerely sorry for my actions seen in the video. I seemed to have taken a number of things for granted. I did not think my behaviour through, and I admit that the act and its setting are wrong even in the absence of Covid-19.”

The father went on to apologise to the Church, the school he works at and the students involved.

“I sincerely apologise to my Archbishop, the entirety of the Anglican Communion, the College, the affected students and their families, and the generality of the public. I pray for forgiveness from all and sundry and plead that you hold me in your prayers during these trying times. May God bless us all.”
