Takoradi Woman Who Faked Her Kidnapping Jailed For 6 Years

29-year-old Joana Krah has been sentenced to 6 years in prison by a Takoradi Circuit Court for faking her own kidnapping.

Joana Krah became a hot topic in the media after news about her kidnapping broke. Since then, varied developments came up until she personally confessed that she was not kidnapped neither was she pregnant.

She allegedly had collaborated with two others – Susanna Awortwe and Francis Eshun – to allege kidnapping to extort monies from her adopted father.

Madam Joana Krah was accused of publishing false news and lying to the public after she faked her kidnapping in order to collect GHc5,000 from her adopted father.

Appearing at court for her earlier trial, the 29-year-old pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

Miss Krah reappeared before court on Monday, 25th October 2021 and pleaded guilty to all the charges levelled against her by the prosecution.

The Presiding judge, Michael Ampadu passed the judgment after she allegedly faked her kidnapping to demand GHS 5,000 from her adopted father.

She was sentenced to two years in prison for the publication of false news and for the charge of deceiving a public officer, she was sentenced to six years in prison to bring the total sentence to 8years.

The court disclosed that the sentence is to deter other people consider repeating a similar offense.
