2021 has been a fateful year for Ghanaian celebrities. It’s been one year that has seen more celebs arrested within it than any other year in history.
As many as a dozen celebrities have spent some time behind bars within this year.
Many actions which in the past would have been let go was prosecuted this year, partly due to the installation of a new IGP.
George Akuffo Dampare took over the job and has been far stricter on celebrities than his predecessors.
Whilst some celebs were arrested by the state, others were arrested due to having a ‘beef’ with another celebrity which got out of hand.
Below we present the full list of celebrities who spent time behind bars this year.
1 Ohemaa Jacky
Gospel singer/vlogger Ohemaa Jacky was arrested in September for defrauding a lady out of 21,000 euros with claims that she would secure her a passport and travelling documents to the European Union (EU).
After spending a week in jail, she was granted bail but then went on the run.
2 Efia Odo
Efia Odo and 10 ‘Fix The Country campaigners’ were arrested in June for protesting the arrest of other campaigners.
Whilst protesting before the Accra High Court, they were arrested by police.
Odo later stopped her activism and left social media for a while.
3 Nana Agradaa
Traditional priest Patricia Asiedu aka Nana Agradaa was arrested in April for illegally operating two tv stations and defrauding Ghanaians.
After she spent some time behind bars, Agradaa reemerged claiming to be a born again Christian.
She’s now an ‘evangelist’ known as Patricia Oduro Koranteng.
4 Bulldog
Artiste manager and entertainment analyst Bulldog started the year behind bars after the BNI picked him up in January for threatening the President.
Bulldog later said his arrest was like a movie as the security officials stormed his house with weapons!
5 Isaac Owusu Bempah
In September of this year, man of God Isaac Owusu Bempah was arrested by the police after threatening Nana Agradaa.
Owusu Bempah and some of his acolytes stormed Agradaa’s residence with weapons threatening her life.
He spent some days behind bars after he was initially denied bail.
