British-Ghanaian Businesswoman Lorraine Wright Honoured by Queen Elizabeth for Outstanding Achievements

British-Ghanaian businesswoman Lorraine Wright has been honoured by the queen in a ceremony.

Lorraine has been awarded an MBE – the most Excellent Order of the British Empire honour.

She received the award from HRH Princess Royal (Princess Anne), who stood in for the Queen, Elizabeth II, as she’s currently battling COVID-19.

The MBE is a prestigious award that recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people throughout the United Kingdom.

It is awarded to those who have made achievements in public life that have contributed to the development of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Lorraine was honoured for her initiative ‘University Gospel Choir of the Year’ (UGCY), a voluntary organisation that provides a platform for University Gospel Choirs.

The decade-old organisation organises a competition that showcases the musical skills and talents of University Choirs across the UK and recently, Ghana.

A British-born Ghanaian, Lorraine is an award-winning businesswoman and an Executive MBA Graduate from the University of Oxford.

She is a director at the Swiss global financial services firm UBS and owns a luxury spa in Accra, among other endeavours.
