A document published by the government on Thursday morning described Chelsea’s owner as “a pro-Kremlin oligarch” and was said to be “associated with a person who is or has been involved in destabilizing Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, namely Vladimir Putin, with whom Abramovich has had a close relationship for decades.”

55-year-old Abramovich put his club up for sale last week and had been hoping for a deal to go through.

Many expressed interest in buying  the club includong Ghana’s Chairman Wontumi.

Wontumi has been seen in several videos expressing interest in owning the club.

He claimed in one of such videos that he has about 15 financiers supporting him and his lawyers are in constant talks with Abramovic and his team.

Well he can call his lawyers to return as it is unclear when the UK government will release the assets of Roman Abramovich.

The government claims he has been “…obtaining a financial benefit or another material benefit from Putin and the Government of Russia. This includes tax breaks received by companies linked to Abramovich, buying and selling shares from and to the state at favorable rates, and the contracts received in the run-up to the 2018 World Cup. Therefore, Abramovich has received preferential treatment and concessions from Putin and the government of Russia.”
