Young Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has revealed in a recent interview the hate and pretense some Nigerian artists give to Ghanaian artists when they visit their country.
The rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria is believed to be purely for entertainment but according to Yaw Tog, it goes beyond showbiz.
Using himself as an example, Yaw Tog said he and his colleagues were treated badly when they traveled to Nigeria for the 8th edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in December 2021.
Yaw Tog said Nigerians treated him and his female colleague Gyakie and Kofi Jamar like trash assing that they were antagonized and not recognized as celebrities in the country.
He told Kojo Manuel on YFM 107.9 that, “Nigerians don’t treat Ghanaian artistes like their main artistes, they treat you as a normal person. You can’t be treated like Davido or Burna Boy there.”
“When we went there, they treated us differently, everything was normal compared to Ghana where I would have received some special treatment. Things were hard there”, he added.
