Ghanaian radio personality, Abeiku Santana has questioned the credibility of the Vodafone Ghana Music awards(VGMA) for not nominating Kofi Kinaata and Fameye in the Artist Of The Year category at this year’s event.
VGMA23 released their final list of nominees for this year’s awards over the weekend and as usual, it came with a lot of controversies.
Many pundits, industry players and musicians have expressed disappointments for their artists missing out on some categories.
Okay FM’s drive time host, Abeiku Santana, also used his platform to punch holes into this year’s nomination list after Kofi Kinaata and Fameye missed out on the Artist Of The Year category.
He asked if Fameye and Kofi Kinaata have offended Charterhouse in any way that they refused to nominate them for the Artist of The Year category.
In his view, these two acts worked hard and deserve to be on that list more than any of the artists captured in there.
Abeiku Santana boldly questioned the credibility of the award scheme and said they are rather nominating their friends for that category instead of deserving artists.
Fameye also added his voice to the debate in a separate video saying he feels disappointed for not making it into the Artist of the Year category.
Although he got 5 nominations, the Praise singer said he was eyeing Songwriter of the Year and Artist of The Year which he missed out.
