Why did Will Smith Punch Chris Rock in the face?

Funnyman Chris Rock made a joke during his Oscar hosting duties about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jada Pinkett suffers alopecia (hair loss), and Rock made a joke that he cannot wait to see her in G.I Jane 2.

Will Smith jumped him on stage immediately to smack him, obviously not too pleased with the comedian’s joke.

Smith screamed, “keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth” at Rock after going back to his seat.

The actor apologised to the Academy after winning Best Actor later in the night for his performance in ‘King Richard’.

He pointedly refused to apologise to Rock.

Chris Rock declined to press charges.

LAPD announced that they investigated the incident of assault, but that Chris Rock refused to press charges against Smith.

An LAPD statement read: “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another.

“The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report,”
