Jackie Appiah was born on December 5th, 1983 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Ghanaian parents.

Her parents were Mr Kwabena Appiah and Janet Owusu, both Ghanaians.

She was the last of the couple’s five children.

Jackie’s father was the brother of the late Joe Appiah, a famous Ghanaian lawyer from Kumasi.

Joe Appiah served as Member of Parliament for Atwima-Amansie from 1957-1961.

Jackie grew up in Canada but moved to Ghana at age 10 with her mother.

She always had an interest in acting and played numerous roles throughout her years of schooling.

She rose to the public limelight in the late 90s after landing the role of Enyonam Blagogee on the cult favourite Things we Do for Love television show.

Jackie played roles in other tv shows including Tentacles, Games People Play and Sun City.

Her career took off like a rocket following those appearances, leading to her landing massive roles in both Ghallywood and Nollywood.

Jackie established herself as a fan favourite with appearances in movies such as Princess Tyra, Beyonce and Shirley Frimpong Manso’s The Perfect Picture.

She joined Achimota Prepatory School after leaving Faith Montessori, where she became the Girl’s Entertainment Prefect.

The actress completed her Senior High Education at Havard College in Accra.

Even during her teen years, Jackie showed her talent after auditioning for the Hal Jackson Talent Teen Show to perform at the famous Apollo Theatre.

She finished as first runner-up of the show.

Jackie Appiah and Shatta Wale

Jackie Appiah got into a ruckus with Ghanaian dancehall act Shatta Wale in early 2022 after he attacked her in a video.

The actress had said that entertainers should not always look to charge money for some public awareness campaigns and that did not sit well with money-conscious Wale.

Shatta Wale attacked Jackie in a live video, calling her many names and alleging she’s a prostitute.

Jackie Appiah sued Shatta Wale over his unprovoked attacks.
