Bandits Attack President Buhari’s Convoy in Katsina – Details

The Nigerian state of Katsina has reported news of bandits who opened fire on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy.

Reports have it that the bandits had guns and attacked the advance convoy of the President, Buhari.

The incident happened Tuesday evening, July 5, 2022, affecting a convoy carrying the advance team of security guards, protocol and media officers.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the incident in a statement.

Fortunately, when the bandits attacked, President Muhammadu Buhari was not available.

The advance team was heading for Daura, the hometown of President Buhari, ahead of his Sallah trip but met enemy fire near Dutsinma in Katsina.

Shehu stated that the attackers opened fire on the convoy but were fended off by the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) accompanying the convoy.

“The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.”

Meanwhile, two persons are receiving treatment for minor injuries. All the other personnel and staff arrived safely.
