Kenneth Petty, husband of Nicki Minaj has been sentenced to one year of home detention for failing to register as a sex offender.
Petty had a close shave as feds in California recommended Petty get 15 months in prison and 5 years of probation.
The 44-year-old was still given a year of home detention, 3 years of probation, and a $55,000 fine by the federal judge.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office’s prosecutors had contended that home detention wouldn’t constitute punishment.
They explained that Nicki and Kenneth live in a luxurious multi-bedroom mansion in a gated Calabasas community.
But much to their dismay – Petty will be doing that time in the mansion.
Pleading guilty back in September 2021, the judge clearly disagreed Petty should get that stiff of a sentence.
Petty spent more than 4 years in jail after being found guilty of rape in 1994 in New York City.
He didn’t register on the sex offender’s registry when he relocated to California with Nicki, which is how he got caught.
Meanwhile, the couple was sued earlier this year.
One of their security guards claimed he was ambushed and punched by Kenneth Petty backstage.
The guy was head of security for one of Nicki’s concerts in Germany back in March 2019.
He sued Kenneth and Nicki for damages, including his hefty medical bills.
