Dave Chappelle’s Sold-Out Concert Set to Go on After Venue Cancelled Amid Social Media Backlash

Following a social media onslaught, a Minnesota musical venue cancelled the comedian’s performance.

DC was scheduled to play on Wednesday at First Avenue, a well-known downtown Minneapolis venue until his appearance was cancelled.

Chappelle announced his show on Monday, and tickets sold out Tuesday in 5 minutes.

However, hours later, a few aggrieved people took to social media to attack the first avenue for hosting Dave Chapelle.

They felt it was improper to host the comedian’s contentious Netflix show.

The venue has communicated that they heard the backlash and did some explaining.

First Avenue says it runs a safe space and lost sight of the impact a Chappelle show would create.

Many have said the venue had to know about Dave’s special and subsequent appearances and the controversy it generated.

Dave will still take the stage Wednesday in Minneapolis, just not at First Avenue.
