A former communications team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga, has described Vice President Dr Bawumia as the biggest gift President Akufo-Addo has given to Ghanaians in his time in office.
Speaking in an interview on Hot Fm, Atubiga said Bawumia has turned out to be a massive asset for the ruling New Patriotic Party and Ghanaians at large, making him Akufo-Addo’s best gift to Ghanaians.
Aside Bawumia’s competence, Atubiga pointed to the smooth and complementary relationship between the economics guru and the President, noting no other President and Vice pair have been able to avoid falling out as these two have done.
“The best gift Akufo-Addo has given to Northerners which he would forever be remembered with is discovering Dr Bawumia for Ghanaians,” Atubiga said.
He added: “Rawlings fell out with late Vice President Ekow Akaa, Kuffour fell out with Aliu Mahama, John Dramani Mahama also fell out with late Amissah Arthur and Rawlings fell out with Atta-Mills as well.”
Stephen Atubiga was a former communications team member of the NDC who was ex-communicated after criticising leaders of the party.
He has since gone on to form his own party, the National Liberation Council (NLC).
Asked how Bawumia can be a gift considering the NDC always claim he’s been a disaster as a Vice President, Atubiga retorted: “NDC has no moral right to say that against Bawumia because every government face challenges, there was also ‘Dumsor’ during their era so they can’t use the current situation against Bawumia,”
