Chrissy Teigen, the model wife of singer John Legend, has for the first time revealed that contrary to earlier claims that she miscarried their third child, she actually had an abortion.
Teigen in an interview at Propper Delay’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit revealed that their initial claim she had a miscarriage was inaccurate.
She revealed that she herself had not really put it together that what she went through was an abortion until recently when the U.S Supreme Court outlawed the procedure.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions,” Teigen said at Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit (via THR).
“It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention.”
She revealed that doctors had to abort her non-viable son or she would have died herself.
“Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion,” Teigen, 36, said. “An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”
Teigen and Legend were expecting their third child in 2020 but eventually, the baby did not make it.
Chrissy at the time said it was a miscarriage but she only realised later when abortion rights were overturned in the country that her procedure was actually an abortion.

“I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way,” Teigen shared.
“I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn’t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.”
Despite that horror, the couple are now expecting another third child and he’s viable this time.
