United Television (UTV) Ghana has been taken to the cleaners by angry fans after hyping up a new Black Sherif lookalike who’s popped up online.
The lookalike was at a program held by the television station over the weekend, UTV Day with the Stars, performing some of Black Sherif’s songs to a crowd.
Blue Sherif, as fans dubbed him, performed two of the artist’s singles, Konongo Zongo and his verse on Sarkodie’s Country Side.
The video was posted by UTV with the caption: “Who do we have here ? #UTVDayWithTheStars”
Fans were pissed off that a television station as prestigious as UTV were giving free publicity to a lookalike of a star who was ripping off his songs.
Recently, the issue of these lookalikes popping up and performing the songs of hardworking artistes for their own benefit has reared its ugly head.
Angry fans attacked UTV for contributing to that issue.
“How l wish Blue Sherif will be sue[d] including that [Despite] media… this nonsense must stop. They shouldn’t entertain low key look alike biaaa,” a netizen wrote.

Another said: “Chale these things need to stop ooo hmmm,”
