Veterinary Officer Leaves Ghana To Work As Labourer In America, Now Earns $1,800 Monthy – Video

The situation in Ghana is very bleak for the youth, whether you’re educated or not, and an interview with a Ghanaian man in the United States perfectly illustrates that.

Kwame Sarpong worked as a veterinary officer in Ghana for 14 solid years. After 14 years, his salary had risen from 150 cedis to Ghc 1,200.

Fed-up, he decided to travel outside to seek greener pastures.

When I began as a veterinary nurse in 2006 my take-home pay was 150 cedis, as at the time I was living to the USA in 2018 my take-home pay was 1,200 cedis when taxes and other things are deducted from it,” he said.

According to him, he now earns roughly $1,800 monthly, which caters for all his bills and leaves him with plenty to save or use to do whatever he wants.

“When I came in 2018, I was living with my sister, so I wasn’t paying bills, my salary was 1800 dollars. Now I can use my two week wages to cater for my bills and save the rest,” he said.

That translates to well over Ghc 20,000 a month. You would struggle to find a graduate in Ghana earning that amount in a legit capacity.
