Baby Dies At Tema General Hospital’s Neonatal ICU After 4-hours Dumsor

A baby is dead after lights went out Tuesday night at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Tema General Hospital.

According to reports, one baby was lost due to the ‘dumsor’, which happened for about 4 hours between 8pm Tuesday and midnight Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, a distraught mother at the NICU shared a video showing the unit hit by dumsor.

Her video showed babies lying down in their incubators without oxygen to breathe due to the power outage taking out necessary equipments.

The mother called out the management of the Hospital for being unable to secure a generator set to power the NICU during the period of the light out.

Whilst the lights came after some hours, sad news came out Wednesday that one baby had died due to the power outage.
