Gillian Turner is an American journalist and political figure who works as an anchor and special correspondent for Fox News.
Turner, a Columbia University alum, is the State Department and foreign policy correspondent on FOX News Channel (FNC).
She also works as a fil-in anchor on several programs including FOX News Sunday, Special Report, America’s Newsroom and America Reports.

She was born in either New York in the United States or Cape Town in South Africa, with online sources being conflicted on her true place of birth.
Turner was born to an academically inclined household with both parents being authors. Little is known about her siblings.

She grew up in New York and initially was thrilled with dancing and had aspirations of becoming a dancer.
Turner danced her way through elementary and high school, having picked up the passion at a very early age. She even reportedly joined the ‘Pennsylvania Ballet’ following her high school graduation.

However, during her time in college at Columbia University, Gillian Turner’s life took a completely different turn. Studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government, she turned her focus towards working in media and politics.
After graduating cum laude from Columbia in 2005, Gillian Turner started working as a staffer in the office of the minority leader in the U.S House of representatives.
She then joined the office of the White House National Security Council (NSC) under President George W. Bush as a research assistance. She worked in the NSC for over four years from 2006 till 2010, spanning the Bush and Obama administrations. She won the NSC’s Outstanding Service Award’ at least once during the Bush Administration, becoming one of the youngest people ever to win that award.
Once the Obama administration took over, Turner became the acting director of the White House NSC. She served as a liason between the White House and the House of Representatives on foreign policy and national security issues. She left her role in May 2010.
Turner then took to years to study at the University of Cape Town where she received her Master’s of Social Service in African Governance and Security studies, graduating in 2012.
She then joined the Global Strategy Firm Jones Group International, holding several roles during her time there from June Jun 2012 to August 2017.

She was promoted to a correspondent in 2017 and a fill-in anchor since at least 2018, serving as substitute anchor on shows like FOX News Sunday, Special Report, America’s Newsroom and America Reports. In December 2023, Fox News announced she had been promoted to anchor and state department and foreign policy correspondent.
In her position, Turner covers international and domestic issues at the U.S. State Department.

Gillian Turner is married to her husband, Alex Kramer. Kramer is a South African national and known in his country as the creator and co-founder of Strika Entertainment, a kids’ entertainment media company. He is also a creative director and graphic designer who is currently Vice President of Design and Marketing at Optoro.
The couple have one child, daughter Lucia Rose Kramer who was born on July 17, 2021. They are based in Washington D.C. and often travel to South Africa for vacations.
