Franca Owumi, who was the first runner-up on the inaugural season of Big Brother Naija in 2006, has passed away.
The news was shared on her Instagram account with a tribute: “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.”
Owumi reportedly died after a brief illness. She was well-known for her lively dance moves and engaging personality during her time on Big Brother Naija.
Other notable contestants from the first season included Katung Aduwak, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gideon Okeke, and the late Joseph Ada.
In addition to her reality TV fame, Owumi was also a musician who released two singles, “Gbadun You” and “Diva,” through her record label, Cisca Entertainment, in 2012. She also contributed as a writer for Revista, an international magazine based in Ghana.
