Cornerstone International Academy in East Legon has announced a temporary break following the tragic loss of two of their students who were involved the fatal accident at East Legon.
The incident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, involved a collision between a Honda Acura and a Jaguar driven by the 16-year old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako. The impact caused the Honda to crash into a wooden electric pole, leading to a fire that tragically claimed the lives of the two girls.
In the aftermath, the school released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident and announcing a temporary suspension of academic activities. “As we mourn the loss of our beloved students, our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families. In this difficult time, we have decided to close school early for the mid-term break, effective tomorrow, October 15, 2024,” read part of the statement. The break will last until October 21, 2024, allowing students and staff to grieve and process their emotions in solidarity with the families.
The school community is in deep mourning, and the decision to go on a break is part of their efforts to grieve with the bereaved families and provide support to the affected students and staff.
