Anna Hart, a student at the Brunswick High School in Maine has unexpectedly died, the school has announced.
Hart passed suddenly on Tuesday, October 22. No cause of death has been given publicly although suicide was mentioned in the announcement of the tragedy.
The tragic news was announced in a statement from Brunswick School Superintendent Phil Potenziano.
“It is with profound sadness that I write this letter to let you know that one of our High School Students, Anna Hart, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22. My sincere condolences and thoughts go out to Anna’s family and friends,” he said.
He added that members of the school’s Crisis Response Team will be made available to help students feeling any difficulties with the news. “It’s really important if you or your child is not feeling well in any way to reach out for help. Suicide should not be an option,” Potenziano added.
A GoFundMe has been started in Hart’s honor, with plans of raising money for her family to navigate the upcoming difficult period.
“This GoFundMe is created to support Anna’s mothers, Heidi Eddy and Courtney Michalec, and her step-mother, Darleen Michalec, as they navigate the devastating loss of their sweet, lovely Anna,” the fundraiser said.
Anna was described as ‘vibrant, creative, and kind soul who brought joy to all who met her.’ She was an animal lover who recused many strays dogs, cats and more.
With a starting goal of $10,000, the fundraiser has totaled about $3,000 so far.
