Big Sad 1900, a Los Angeles based rapper has shut down rumors of his death that started circulating on social media Tuesday, November 26th.
The 1900 CEO took to his Instagram @bigx1900 account a few hours ago to share a cap emoji, the universally recognized sign of calling out falsehoods.
Big Sad 1900 was reported dead by multiple sources a few hours before his post.
The Instagram user Blanco Tarantino who runs a Hiphop blog, reported the alleged news of Big Sad’s death.
“Today, the hip-hop community mourns the loss of rising LA rapper Big Sad 1900, who was tragically shot and killed in the West Adams area,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
Other reports emerged, with other pages getting in on the act. “Rapper #BigSad1900 Has Reportedly Passed Away,” 4 the Culture Ent also shared on Facebook.
Not long after these posts went viral, rebuttals started emerging online. “Everybody claiming big sad 1900 passed it’s 🧢” wrote Bing Mon Hikk on Facebook.
Big Sad also jumped into the fray, sharing a single cap emoji to get his point across – he’s alive and well.
A day before, Instagram comedian Slimeball MK was the subject of a similar hoax. Social media has become quite fond of prematurely offing some figures these days.
Who is Big Sad 1900?
Big Sad 1900 real name Reggie Williams is an American hip hop artist known for his connection to the Playboy Gangster Crips, a gang that emerged in Los Angeles County during the 1980s.
Raised primarily by his grandparents and the state, Big Sad 1900 faced significant challenges during his youth, including spending time in juvenile detention for serious offenses. He earned his high school diploma early while incarcerated at Boy’s Republic in Chino Hills.
Big Sad 1900 began to make waves in the hip hop community with the release of his first video, “No Hooks,” in January 2019. Despite facing legal issues, including multiple felony warrants that led to jail time, he managed to maintain and even grow his popularity.
