Nigerian music icon Davido has shed light on the increasing trend of Nigerians choosing to give birth abroad, likening the practice to securing an insurance policy for their children’s future. Speaking on *The Morning Hustle* podcast, Davido explained that this phenomenon is particularly common among Nigeria’s upper and middle classes, as it offers numerous long-term benefits.
“Giving birth abroad is more or less like buying an insurance policy,” Davido remarked. He emphasized the advantages, including foreign citizenship, access to quality education, better healthcare, and expanded opportunities. “Children born abroad have access to foreign citizenship, opportunities, good medical care, and quality education, among others,” he added.
The singer also noted that this approach simplifies visa applications and provides a reliable safety net for families.
