Martha Ankomah Rejects Lil Win’s Public Apology In GH¢5 Million Defamation Case, Court Adjourns To February 2025

Actress Martha Ankomah has turned down Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win’s public apology in their ongoing GH¢5 million defamation case. Reports from EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, suggest that the actress found the apology inadequate, claiming it failed to meet the standard of a proper retraction and apology.

Efforts to settle the matter out of court are ongoing, with expectations that Lil Win may issue a revised apology acceptable to Martha Ankomah. Meanwhile, the High Court in Accra has adjourned the case to February 25, 2025, to give both parties time to finalize their terms of settlement.

The case, held on Friday, December 13, 2024, was heard in-camera and lasted nearly three hours. Both Martha Ankomah and Lil Win, along with their legal teams, were present as discussions focused on reaching an amicable resolution.

The legal dispute began on February 14, 2024, when Martha Ankomah filed a defamation lawsuit against Lil Win over alleged derogatory remarks he made in a viral video. In the video, Lil Win reportedly downplayed the actress’s relevance in the film industry while insulting her over comments she was alleged to have made.

In her suit, Martha Ankomah is demanding GH¢5 million in damages, claiming the statements have harmed her reputation. She is also seeking compensatory and aggravated damages for what she describes as the reckless and malicious nature of the comments. Additionally, the actress is requesting a public apology and a retraction of the defamatory remarks, to be given the same prominence as the original statements.

Lil Win and his legal team have responded to the lawsuit, and the parties are working towards a resolution.
