Ibrahim Mahama Gives 13-Year-Old KNUST Student A Private Jet Tour, Pledges Full Scholarship

Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama recently gave 13-year-old Melchizedek Adio Baafawiise a once-in-a-lifetime experience aboard one of his private jets, offering the young scholar an exclusive tour of the aircraft and a chance to see the cockpit in action. The experience was a dream come true for Melchizedek, whose passion for aviation and science has shaped his remarkable academic journey.

The meeting, held in Accra on February 3, 2025, was not only a celebration of Melchizedek’s achievements but also a commitment to his future. Hailing from Bole in the Savannah Region, he made history as the youngest student ever admitted to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), securing a spot in the Bachelor of Science in Physics program after earning 5 As and 3 Bs in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). His exceptional abilities led him to skip multiple grades, making him the youngest undergraduate at KNUST.

During their meeting, Ibrahim Mahama praised Melchizedek for his brilliance and perseverance. As part of his support, he pledged to fully fund the young scholar’s education, covering tuition, accommodation, and all necessary academic expenses at KNUST and beyond. Melchizedek’s parents expressed deep gratitude for the life-changing support, recognizing it as a stepping stone to greater opportunities for their son.

Encouraging the young prodigy to continue striving for excellence, Ibrahim Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing young talent. “Young minds like Melchizedek are the future of Ghana. It is our responsibility to support and nurture them so they can reach their full potential,” he stated.
