Daily 2015 AFCON Round-Up: Group D Ends Up All Square

Cameroon

Four games, four draws; that’s the situation in Group D of the AFCON 2015 after the second round of matches, none of the sides having been able to establish any sort of advantage whatsoever.

Like the first round, both games in the second round of Group D matches ended 1-1. First up was Cote d’Ivoire, who once again had to come from behind to rescue a point in a campaign that’s not going to plan in any way for our West African neighbours.

The other heavyweight in the group, Cameroon was pegged back by Guinea, condemning the Indomitable Lions to a second straight draw.

Mali has been serious contenders at each of the past two AFCONS, and they showed why with a spirited performance against the Ivory Coast. Seven minutes was all it took for the Eagles to take the lead in the early game.

Sambou Yatabare sent in a lovely cross into the box from the right, and Bakary Sako connected with a sweet, one time volley that rifled into the net; certainly the goal of the tournament so far.

Hypnotic Thieves Or Brain-Dead Victims? | Tricksters Hitting It Big In Accra Because We Consciously Decide Not To Apply Our Brains

Thieves
Thieves

This is something that has been going on for a long time, and personally I have listened to some of the victims narrating their ordeal. It certainly is not a pleasant experience, but an avoidable one? I believe so.

As we usually do when we feel the need to escape responsibility, some people have claimed these thieves operate via hypnosis. They are believed to weave this spell of hypnosis around their victims, which in turn leads them to follow every suggestion these tricksters make to them.

People have lost numerous valuables to these people, mostly cash, laptops, mobile phones, and even more cash.

Two ladies I know personally, both who were in my class back in school- one of whom is actually my significant other, suffered this fate. One carted her entire year’s fees off to these guys; the other lost some cash, and valuables including her ATM card which she willingly gave off plus the code.

The process is actually quite simple, and varies based on the individuals involved. One plays on your religious inclination, putting you in fear with some dreaded prophecies which you then need to forestall; the other playing on your greed with some ridiculous promises of quick cash which any right thinking person would smell as fraudulent from a mile off.

Celebrities’ Academic Excellence/Failure Matters And So We Will Always Consider Them…

Sandra Ankobiah And Friends
Sandra Ankobiah And Friends

Yes, what is news is indeed relative – what you consider as news may not be deemed as such by another! So therefore, if a media house or journalist reports on something you feel is not news worthy to you, you don’t condemn the media house or journalist. It’s a matter of choice – read it or not, period!

Last year, a journalist reported on how dancehall artist, Kaakie, failed some of her end of final year semester papers at the University of Ghana. Around that same time, GhanaCelebrities.Com reported on actress cum presenter at GHOne and Starr FM-Naa Ashorkor Doku, who, according that reached the site, also failed some of her modules at the Ghana School of Law.

According to some school of thought, those reportage were tenuous and tittle-tattling – because, the academic or educational life of our celebrities should be treated as part of their private life and for that matter, should not be reported on – that is goosey remarks by all standard!

In the case of Naa Ashorkor, Razz Newspaper followed up on her for confirmation or otherwise but she failed to respond to the story. On Kaakie, Samuel Baah of AM PLUZZ on PLUZZ FM, had the privilege of hosting her on his morning program and instead of asking her about that reportage, compromised!

“I’m not interested in asking her anything about that report. I won’t! Those who did that report how many of them if you ask them to present their school reports or certificates to you will do so?” were the excuse Sammy gave for not inquiring from Kaakie whether she failed her modules or not, or the report was false or true.

Well, I was disappointed in Sammy because he did not ask or probe Kaakie about the story to even hear whether she will ask to be excused on that story or not – rather, he jumped to her defense by condemning the act of reporting on celebrities academic pursuits.

The media has always reported on the academic pursuits of our celebrities – so what has changed now? Let me give you few examples: Actress Nadia Buari graduated from University of Ghana – School of Performing Arts, with a First Class Honour, BFT in Fine Arts – the media reported it!

Ghana, the Country I Hate to Live in Now…

Ghana
Ghana

When I hear people talk about Heaven and Hell, I ask myself this question; is there any place worse than Ghana that if I am not careful, I could find myself there?

You may have heard a lot about the unbearable state Ghana has found itself—-due to our industrious politicians who are working tirelessly day and night to fill their bank accounts to the detriment of the entire nation.

Having been able to live in Ghana for 27 years had made me a ‘black Ninja’, not the one capable of kicking some bad a$$ but the one who has been beaten so many times by the rains of hardship to the extent that, I cannot even be bothered any more with incoming kicks.

It may sound like a joke when we regularly slam ECG for the unending power crisis but in reality, what else can we do apart from to convert our compounding anger into little insults—which no one really cares about?

I have not travelled anywhere out of Ghana before but I really don’t think living in a country with some few people burning cash in your face while these same people in authority cannot just provide the basic for you—water, electricity and employment is the worst condition to live under…

I wake up each day hating my own country—the place of my birth and it is not because some aliens have ceased power to massacre the citizens but our own people are indirectly killing the hopes, aspiration and welfare of us all.

Scientists Say the ‘Woman on Top’ is the MOST DANGEROUS Sekz Pos*tion…

Black-couple
This is not woman on top though…

It seems to be the favourite of so many men and women—especially those lazy men with very active women to do the job but according to scientists; this same position is the most dangerous ‘sekz’ position…

And we are talking about the popular ‘c*wgirl position’—loosely called the woman on top. According to scientists, though this position is an escape from the missionary position for women, it seems that men are paying a painful price for the revolution in the bedroom.

PDP is Calling on All Nigerians in Ghana | Travel to Nigeria and Vote For that Deserving Candidate-Goodluck Jonathan on February 14 For a Strong & Better Nigeria…

PDP Home Calling of Nigerians in Ghana
PDP Home Calling of Nigerians in Ghana

As Aristotle once said, human beings are by nature political animals, because nature, which does nothing in vain, has equipped humans with speech, which enables them to communicate moral concepts such as justice which are formative of the household and city-state.

Soon, Nigeria will go to the polls to elect a president who will steer the affairs of the country. The current government (People’s Democratic Party – PDP) will face other opposition parties who are doing all they can within their powers to win the mandate of Nigerians. Among other things, now is the time for our dear Nigerian brothers and sisters to mull over the upcoming elections in order to make the right choice.

Despite the setbacks facing the current President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, many hold on the belief that he is really working very hard to make the country a safe haven to live in.

Being in charge as the leader of a large and complex country like Nigeria is not a joke…One needs to be discerning, confident, calm and honest, intelligent, good public speaker, compassionate, patriotic, loyal, humble, trustworthy, and above all he/she must have good managerial skills.

It is of no doubt that the current Nigerian president – Goodluck Jonathan – is made up of all the aforementioned qualities; placing him above his competitors. His managerial skills avail him good knowledge to keep Nigeria going. With the above traits, Goodluck Jonathan can be described as one great leader to have emerged in Nigerian politics. It is not surprising that he was named one of the world’s most influential people in 2012.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf – President of Liberia – was right when he wrote this about him: “Goodluck Jonathan has spearheaded the fight against corruption and turned Nigeria into an example of good governance. He has also made a significant impact on consolidating peace and security in West Africa. From the onset of our own crisis, Liberia has benefitted from the support of Nigeria. President Jonathan not only upheld the trend but added to it. With leaders like President Jonathan, Africa is sure to move toward prosperity, freedom and dignity for all of its people.” Her claim confirms the fact that President Jonathan’s administration is silently changing Nigeria from a bad situation to a good one.

WhatsApp Is The New ‘Apor’ | 56 Nursing Trainees Sanctioned For Using Application To Cheat During Exams

Whatsapp
Whatsapp

I remember the frantic rush for ‘apor’ whenever examinations came around during school times. People were willing to do whatever they could to get their hands on some, so long as they perceived it to be ‘apor kronkron’.

Of course, it did not always work out; and those were the periods you see people coming out of examination halls with long faces, having placed all their hopes on the ‘apor’ which then swerved them faster than a car with an obstacle in its way.

Of course with the world having advanced in so many ways, it was only a matter of time before the search for ‘apor’ caught up with the times. And the method adopted by the candidates for the Nursing and Midwifery licensing exam is a really novel one.

The students smuggled their phones into the examination hall through their panties, sent the exam results out to an external collaborator, who then solved them and sent it back through a group previously created for that exact purpose.

MUST READ: Personality And Character | There’s A Difference!

black-womans-lips

We love to put across a very ‘good’ personality but this may not always be the same as those which represent our true and consistent character. We unfold ourselves with time and under different circumstances – in anger/ happiness/lack/plenty. We most often tend to get impressed by a person’s personality more so than we do character.

When such people misbehave (unacceptably), we defend them based on their personality and not their character.  We don’t need good values and moral qualities to be funny, charming, impeccable speaker and popular – ask some of the famous people of this world whose reputations are in stark contrast to what they get up to behind closed doors (and washrooms). A person could be incredibly intelligent but lack morals. Some people have good personality with good character; others have great personality with bad character

‘He/she can’t do that’, ‘this sweet looking person’ is how we quickly judge and defend people when their true colours show. A person’s personality stays with them and when they’re playacting at being of a certain character – they gradually show signs of it if we listen and watch. It’s difficult and suffocating wearing a mask for a long time – it’ll fall off with time (long or short).
