Dr Dre dominated this list last year, raking in an unbelievable $620m during the calendar year. It was the highest total grossed by a musician ever, thanks in large part to his deal to sell off his Beats brand to Apple.
However, after a cozy year at the top, Dre drastically falls down the pecking order. Forbes’ list for 2015 has a new queen, and her name is Perry.
Men would always be men, they say. That saying is a lot more right than you think… Whatever.com delights in carrying out pranks and unconventional social experiments, and their latest ones really show what men are made of. For comparison, a similar experiment, where a guy went out to ask random women for sex, saw … Read more
For those of us who fear pain and love our body to the extent that we cannot even take a tattoo, this may seem absurd to us—but to body modification enthusiasts, ‘Tongue Splitting’ is a new trending catching up across Europe and America. Also known as tongue bifurcation, it is a type of body modification in which the … Read more
2014 has been a year of many eventualities, with the continued increase in social media use marking our move further into the 21st century.
No social network brings the world together like Facebook, thus it is a good way to gauge the aggregate feeling of the world at large.
The technicians at Facebook analysed the activities of users to determine the most talked about issues of the year, and the results show the most popular topics of the year; helpfully grouped into categories.
The last two years have seen increasing leak of seks videos and private photos in Ghana, mostly of women by the ex-partners of these women without the men being legally punished or held accountable.
In fact, it is legally complicated to want to sue or find a seks video/photo leaker liable—especially when the videos or photos were taken under consent. Easily, the person suspected of leaking the material could say, ‘I lost my phone’ and that led to the leak.
But the law is developing fast around the world in relation to this form of new crime against women.
And for the first time in the UK, a 21-year-old man has been jailed for ‘revenge p*rn’ after he posted a naked picture of his ex-girlfriend on WhatsApp.
This is beyond ridiculous—and the way people seem to be grouping all Africans as having Ebola has become totally offensive, to the extent that some Africans have even lost their jobs in America over this…
In the UK, a security guard who returned from a holiday in Nigeria was shocked to find he had been banned from work because his employer fears he has Ebola.
This comes at a time when Nigeria has been declared as Ebola free by the World Health Organisation.
People often get anxious as the year draws to a close, particularly parents who have to determine how to raise the cash needed to get all those presents and finance the fun activities their kids would expect.
But residents of some suburbs of Lagos has been introduced to a whole new level of end-of-year anxiety, as reports indicate amongst all the presents they have to buy for friends and family, the armed robbers in the area has also written to them demanding their share.
A Trent News report indicates that copies of the letters purported to be written by the armed robbers were found floating through the townships involved early one morning, and people who picked them up to read received the shock of their lives.
The letter indicated that the people should get their end of year presents ready, and that they would come around for them. Failure to do so would yield disastrous results.
Though the Bible says those who gossip commit a sin—and will die, followed by a trip to hell, a new research says, gossiping may be good for our self-esteem as it allows us to compare ourselves to others.
It’s not just the Bible which condemns gossiping, modern Christian leaders do not also find gossping attractive. Pop Francis was recently in the news for warning that, gossip ‘fills the heart with bitterness and also poisons us’.
According to the Dutch researchers, when people hear positive and negative gossip about others, this goes in to boost their self-reflection and self-evaluation.
This sounds ridiculous but it actually happened in the United Kingdom. A man of 47 years old-Alan Knight from Swansea stole over £40,000 from his elderly neighbour and he was due to face 19 counts of theft and forgery. When it was time for him to appear in Court for his theft, he went into … Read more
Inasmuch as the world is filled with wolves in sheep clothing as the idiom goes, the world is also filled with people who are so naive and gullible it beggars belief.
The story of this pastor who raped a 19 year old girl is sure to trigger disgust, even though sadly stories like these are more commonplace these days. But the story of the girl and how she willingly went along with this so-called pastor really should call into question the wholehearted way people are willing to place trust in anyone styling themselves a ‘Man of God’.
The Sun reports one Anthony Arogunmasa, a self styled pastor has found himself in police clutches over the alleged rape of a 19 year old girl. The girl reported the incident to the police who picked up this ‘pastor’.
The victim said she was walking when this total stranger approached her and told her she needed spiritual cleansing. She said she followed him because she had heard some people calling him ‘pastor’.
“He took me to his house and gave me a candle and soap and asked me to start praying. He also brought out certain objects which he said were prayer items for the spiritual cleansing. In the course of the prayers, he asked me to remove my clothing and just tie a wrapper and I obliged. It wasn’t long after that he suddenly jumped on me and eventually had carnal knowledge of me forcefully.”
The internet has created several jobs—and I mean some wild silly things are making people a lot of money—including an ex-teacher called Jessica Vanessa who works as a professional twerker…
I didn’t even know there is such a profession and I would love to see her face if she meets someone and they ask; what do you do for a living?
With over 2 million followers on Vine, Jessica who is from Florida spends her life twerking to these people—as you know, there are more ignorant, dumb and credulous fools on the internet than even in the church.
If your woman will not forgive you for lying, then you must consider going the way of the above poor man from Manchester who had to stand in the city centre junction wearing a sandwich board with the words, ‘I’m so sorry I lied’.
He surely must be sorry for not just the lie but for the self humiliation too. His photo was taken by someone from her office, and today it is all over the internet.
Whatever lied he told, it didn’t have to go down this way but then again, if you are desperate you will do anything to keep your woman.
If you don’t want to do this sort of crap, better not lie to us…Anyway, I hope he was forgiven and if for nothing at all, for how hard he tried.
A few years ago I used to hear stories of cannibalism still being present in Africa. I never believed them But as I grow, I have come to realise there is still so much dark activity out there.
Back in the old days in Africa, grandma’s end was the best place for a child to run to even when he/she wronged his parents. You always knew grandma would welcome you with love and affection. Parents will actually leave you with grandma if they want you well taken care of.
But somewhere in Africa, many grandmothers are being accused of witchcraft wrongly simply because a few of them are notoriously obnoxious, mischievous and scheming. The west may have its primitive ways but cannibalism is the last thing you expect to hear in 2014. Who would even expect that there are still human beings who will slaughter another like a fowl?
Okay let me retract that. There are human groups that slaughter each other to this day. We know of terrorist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram. But to eat the meat of the human being you were evil enough to kill is a whole different level that we do not hear about. And when those people end up being people you know, your own relatives, your blood, family! It forces us to rethink how safe we are in the midst of family. Africa is indeed riddled with many perplexing issues. Ebola, Cholera, HIV, Terrorism and more. It really is just too much for us to be afraid of being eaten by each other too!
How do you kill a whole human being just to make soup to eat? Have you finished eating everything the world has to offer or will eating another human being ensure that you live forever? What could it be!?
Maimako Shepang, was arrested by Police in Plateau state after his wife, Agnes, reported the incident to Police. The transaction with ritualists is believed to have earned the man N800, 000 (about $5, 000), reports The Vanguard
Fortunately, the ritual could not go on because they required a virgin and a spinster, thus the lady was allowed to go after she revealed she was married to the man who sold her.
Police told media men that Shepang lured his wife into the bush under the pretext of gathering firewood.
I have grown to love the communist State of China, and it is not because of the various fake products they cheaply make available for us. It is because their Courts seem to have a weird way of tackling issues, such as the one below…
A married Chinese man has been ordered by a Court to pay a woman £3,000 compensation for ‘violating her right to v*rginity’ because the man pretended to be single when they slept together.
For the over 7 years I’ve studied law, this is the second time I have across a right to v*rginity and I believe it is an inalienable right in China…
If the West adopts this seemingly new RIGHT, I am sure many of us men would have to pay out each month—and perhaps, it will keep us in check.
This old man decided to go for his own granddaughter when he felt like it, but an Accra Circuit Court frowned upon his decision, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Emmanuel Oko Lartey, 64, was arraigned on charges of defilement and incest, for both of which the judge found him guilty. He was sentenced to 10 and 15 years respectively on both counts, but the sentences are to run concurrently.
The incidents occurred last year, as narrated to the court by the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah, and as reported by the Ghana News Agency.
The victim used to run errands for her grandfather, and the old man took advantage of the situation to sleep with her twice, leading to the victim’s pregnancy.
In this modern world people get divorced a lot, and for lots of reasons, not all of which make the best sense. But this man in India certainly takes the cake in this category, having divorced his wife for wanting too much seks.
The man, from Mumbai in India, told a court that he could not live with his wife anymore, because she had been making insatiable demands of him, and refused to let up even when he was ill and recuperating.
The couple got married in April 2012, and the man told the court that the problem has been present ever since they tied the knot.
In a petition filled with a litany of abuse he had supposedly suffered at his wife’s hands, the man called for a dissolution of his marriage, saying he could not keep up with his wife’s ‘excessive and insatiable’ demands.
The image of the old lady as a witch stereotype is one that has been immortalised by several cultural and religious beliefs in Ghana over the years, and the advent of the modern film industry has elevated the stereotype to levels where it’s almost a universally regarded fact.
The stereotype often depicts a wizened up, bitter old shrew, who cannot stand the happiness of anyone else. They carry out wicked acts out of sheer malice, irrespective of the relation of the victim to themselves. The final piece of the puzzle is their Harry Potter style brooms which they can use to transport themselves anywhere they want.
A recent occurrence in the Eastern Region has brought all this to life, and more. A Daily Guide report depicts the casting out of the demons out of a 67 year old self confessed witch, which if true means the most powerful spiritualist since Jesus Christ is hiding out somewhere in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The Prophet in question is a certain Prophet Owusu Agyeman Prempeh, founder and leader of the Ebenezer Healing Church of God at Akyem Oda. In what was believed to be a three hour session, he cast out the demons from the witch, which led to the digging up of some good old witch memorabilia: to wit a pot containing fresh human blood and a heart, a live snake, a spear, a locked padlock, three wedding rings, and some currency including the new and old Ghana Cedis, as well as some US Dollars.
For the past three months the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), had been on strike bemoaning government’s plans to scrap their book and research allowances for a national research fund.
The body thus went on strike in May, and were later joined by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) earlier this month, also over the same research allowance.
Polytechnic students the country over, after over three months of anguish, can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief as the General Secretary of POTAG announced the cancellation of the strike earlier today.
The strike came at a particularly bad time, especially for final year students who were in the middle of their final dissertations, whilst to this day exams for the third semester has not been held for those students to complete their polytechnic education.
The General Secretary, Ibrahim Adamu, announced that the group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), after a fruitful meeting with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations regarding the issue.
It seems that someone in Sierra Leone has already beaten Ghanaian movie maker-Samuel Ofori to the game, by making the first Ebola movie in Africa. The movie “Ebola Don Krase” is marketed and distributed by Visual Arts Media, based in Freetown and has one of Sierra Leone’s best actor and comedian Sara D’Great in it. … Read more
One thing I love about Asian parents is their sense of discipline and the fact that, most of them do not take BS from anyone—including their own children.
This will hardly happen in Africa where most people live freely at home with their parents. In China, a couple have taken their adult stay-at-home son to court —in an attempt to force him to move out and get a job.
Their son-Xu Qing who is 29 and obviously lazy dropped out of university and moved in with his mother and father in Beijing after insisting he did not get on with his roommates at university. What a damn excuse.
And then his father got him a job at his friend’s company but the son walked our saying, the job was too damn boring… This guy must be living on Pluto—which job in this world is not boring?
Now Xu Quing who had no job spends each day at home—sleeping and surfing the internet. Out of this, he met a girl online, some girls must love losers.
His jobless partner also moved in to stay with him at his parents home and now the parents can’t take it anymore. The parents have to cook, clean and pay all the bills.
The social media revolution is in full force around the world and one of its side effects is the selfie craze. Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms these days are always bombarded with selfies of its users.
And for a self taken photo you wouldn’t believe the amount of work put into taking one. And the crazy poses, well, it was an attempt to get into one of those crazy poses that led to the unfortunate death of this young Mexican.
The Telegraph reports that Oscar Aguilar, a resident of Medero died after he attempted to pose for a selfie with a gun.
Unknown to Aguilar, the gun was loaded and accidentally went off as he was trying to take the picture.
Aguilar was home with two friends, Omar Campos Vives, and another one known only as ‘El Paco’, who fled the scene when police arrived.
Campos was arrested on the scene, and told police that “Aguilar was playing around with the gun and decided to take a selfie with it without realising it was loaded”
I grew up in Ghana but there is no bit of any of the infamous ridiculous traits of a Ghanaian left in me.
I have always wanted to be intelligent by spending a lot of time trying to understand so many dead men theories, but I recently realised you don’t need to know everything to be intelligent.
Being a man comes with a lot of props but being a woman sounds equally advantageous. Above it all, being a human is more important.
Love without dedication may work for a short time and the ease of having it so is very tempting, but the beauty of love is hidden in the difficult work channeled towards its full enjoyment.
Reading law has taught me a lot about the importance of rules but knowing the rules is not as important as living within it.
I find it difficult to choose between black and red even though black is my favourite. Red always wins because that is her favourite. As if I have any choice.
Beauty and appearance can easily get one into a relationship but the sustainability of any relationship is deeply rooted in intellect and the connection that can continue to create the wild excitement.
Few years ago, I was confronted with the greatest conundrum of either to pursue a postgraduate degree in philosophy or law. Finally, I found myself back in a law school. After all, philosophy creates nothing, says my friend.
I am African well informed by western ideas but shaped by those true African notions which make life a hell of adventure.
While my friends struggled to select a college some years back because there were several good ones at their disposal, I took the easy route by assessing what books my top two colleges offered in English. Mfansimpim offered Animal Farm and Adisadel College offered Things Fall Apart. I will forever be glad Chinua Achebe was such a persuading author.
It is difficult to be a real critic but more difficult to be really criticised. That explains why many love the former but detest the latter.
Sometimes, I miss the sense of hope, comfort and the over-reaching joy of after life that believing in God brings mankind. However, none of these is a true indication that the God hypothesis is really true.
I have ended up with women because of several attributes but it took me just one to realize that, love is best experienced when you let go the rules and allow yourself to go with the flow.
For some reason bizarre stories involving Parental cruelty to children has become the norm lately in Ghana. Some weeks ago, a couple was arrested for killing their little boy for attempting to have sex with his mother, earlier this week, a man decapitated his son to ‘show’ his wife for refusing to have sex with him.
The latest bizarre incident involves a woman from the Western Region who burnt the hands of her six year old daughter for devouring the meal she had reserved for her husband, the girl’s father.
The woman, Yaa Yaaba, gagged her own six year old, then held her hand over some fire to ‘teach her a lesson’. It took the girl’s screams to attract the attention of other members of the Oppong Valley community.
Reports indicate it took the intervention of several ‘strong’ men in the community to wrestle the girl out of her mom’s fierce grip.
The woman is currently in Police custody pending further investigations.
Yaa Yaaba, apparently cooked the meal for her husband and left it to run some errands.
The hungry little girl ate her father’s meal in the absence of her mother, not knowing that innocuous act was going to land her in literal hell.
Forces that inspire technological ingenuity or creativity have been linked by some conspiracy theorists as having come from the marine world – and that, Ghana’s Apostle Kwadwo Safo, is no exception.
According to these theorists, all the luxurious, sparkling, charming, mesmerizing, and expensive cars, jewels, houses, fashion designs, etc. produced or manufactured on this earth, are old or antiquated forms of arts which are imported from the marine world to this earth for our usage. When they come here, we consider them new, but to those in the marine world, they are outdated.
The man Apostle Kwadwo Safo has manufactured many things – cars, fork lifters, TV sets, irons, consoles, etc. To operate some of his works, one has to clap or tickle the gadget and it starts working. His inventions have always beaten the imaginations of many Ghanaians – some have already questioned the force behind his innovations.
From my research, I gathered that there are seven planetary systems, which are also known as the subterranean heavens. The name of this place is called Bila-svarga (these planets are under water). There are very beautiful houses, gardens and places of sense enjoyment, which are even more opulent than those in the higher planets because the beings there – demons have a very high standard of sensual pleasure, wealth and influence.
Most of the residents of these planets, who are known as Daityas, Dānavas and Nāgas, live as householders. Their wives, children, friends and society are all fully engaged in illusory, material happiness.
The sense of enjoyment of the demigods in the higher planets is sometimes disturbed, but the residents of these planets under the waters enjoy life without disturbances. Thus they are understood to be very attached to illusory happiness.
In Bila-svarga there is a great demon named Maya Dānava, who is an expert artist and architect. He has constructed many brilliantly decorated cities. There are many wonderful houses, walls, gates, assembly houses, temples, yards and temple compounds, as well as many hotels serving as residential quarters for foreigners – earthly beings.
Love or hate her,one thing you cannot deny is Kim Kardashian’s influence on social media and on youth culture. She is literally like an uncontrollable fire. People clamor to devour details of her private life. Eager to know what she is doing at what time including her family who has been sucked into her cash spinning life.
To think that Kim used to be a mere assistant to Paris Hilton is amazing…
It is obvious that many young women wish they looked like Kim Kardashian for obvious reasons. Though some have resigned themselves to being content with what they cannot change, some fans will do anything to look like her. I am shocked how good plastic surgery is these days that someone can get almost exactly what they want if they are willing to roll out the money needed.
Take a look at this interesting woman who dropped a whooping 30,000 dollars just to look like Kim Kardashian.
I often tell myself that Ghana is one of the best countries to live in, because everyday you hear issues that boggle the mind, and makes you wonder how ‘correct’ people are in this country.
Take the recent case of the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu, listen to the several theories and speculations from the general public and the ‘spiritualists’, and you realise the veracity of the claim I just made.
Now imagine a family gathering to mourn a supposed dead relative, then that relative turns up to the gathering. As any normal human would do, most of the people at the gathering took to their heels despite the fact that Mr Asante, the individual in question, was very much in human form.
So how did the mix-up occur and a family was mourning a living relative? Reports say there was an accident at Bubuashie, upon which scene the police found a mobile phone with the victim. They thus culled through the contacts on the phone and reached one of them, who was asked to come to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the police service.
